Mathematical Madness

With two weeks left in the regular season, I think I may still have a chance at a playoff spot?  I'm really not sure anymore.  I'm at four wins and seven losses, and I'm in eleventh place, but I think I still have a chance.

Only the top six teams make the playoffs.  There are three teams with the same record as myself.  So, if they all lose I would move into ninth place (if I win).  Now if the teams in sixth, seventh, and eighth place lose this week and lose again in the final week of the regular season; and at the same time I win my next two match ups I'm in.  Did I lose you yet? I'm not even sure that this is making sense in my own head...

What I'm getting at is that I'm on my last leg.  A loss for me in the next two weeks would completely crush the last breathe that I'm still hanging on to.  With the way my year has been going, I wouldn't be surprised if I get completely blown out this week.

IF the stars align, I can make one of the biggest comebacks in the history of our league.  If they don't, I'll have one the most brutal seasons in my fantasy football career.  At least I can find comfort in the fact that I'm no longer in last place... for now.

  1. Tyler, just from reading your posts I can tell that you're very passionate about fantasy football and you just being passionate about what you do it kinda makes the reader (myself) want to read about what you're writing more. There are some parts of your blog that creates Images and a sense of a picture of what you're talking about also. For someone that really isn't into fantasy football, I actually enjoyed this post. Good Job, keep it up.

  2. I like how you bring up the worry that you're experiencing regarding your team and the potential loss hovering from week to week. It adds a nice touch and kind of changes things up a bit, because you move away from just reporting updates or statistics. I think maybe you could explore that a bit in a future post, or maybe add some sort of personal experience. Overall, I do like your writing style and the passion that you put in your words. Good job.

  3. You show how complex and stressful things could be in the fantasy football world with this post. When you ask readers if they're confused on what you just said make it a bit funny because then after you say that it doesn't even make sense to you. Stuff like this keeps readers interested in the post. Maybe explaining that whole situation of team ranking could lead to another post for you.

  4. Short and sweet. This was a good post because what you managed to do in just a few paragraphs, some writers take pages to do. You made me feel your anxiety. In the second paragraph the long list of things that need to be in place for things to happen the way you'd like them to is one place that the anxiety really came alive. And your last sentence that starts with "If the stars align," marks the culmination of this anxiety though you seem to have calmed. Great piece.

  5. What I like about this post is that not only is it short, but you got to explain and help us understand how stressful it is to be in your predicament. I too am struggling for the last spot to make the playoffs, so I probably know how you feel. Your blog in general is very consistent and it's surprising how you always find something to talk about, especially since football is only once a week.I like that you are not only telling us how you feel, but you also bring humor to most of your blog. It shows that you really enjoy writing about fantasy football. For people like me who also enjoy fantasy football, your blog is a fun and entertaining read. Keep up the good work!

  6. You are really passionate about fantasy football and I applaud you for writing about a blog about it. All my guy friends talk about fantasy football all the time and it's just nice learning about it through your posts. This post in particular is talking about your stresses about fantasy football and about your passion to win or not be in last place. I'm not particularly into fantasy football, but this post was good to read.

  7. the passion that you have for fantasy football is the kind of passion i wish i had. even though i know nothing about football you have made this post about something bigger than the act of playing fantasy football. you talk about the stress you deal with and the anticipation for the end.

  9. I like how you're so into what you're writing. I honestly don't know what you're writing about half the time in the beginning, but you explain it very well. And I understand by the end of the post. I like that this was short and to the point.
